Belly Delights in Hong Kong: Bubba Gump

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

The Peak is a hot tourist attraction in Hong Kong all the time. Everyone who visits Hong Kong, they would go there. The reason is simple: it has a stunning view over the Hong Kong skyline. This also makes it a great place to dine out.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is just located in the famous Peak Tower on The Peak. It’s at the top floor of the tower with amazing views. This restaurant is definitely one of my favourites in Hong Kong. It’s themed from the movie Forrest Gump and is now all over America and some other international locations such as Hong Kong, Osaka and Kuala Lumpur.

Their menu features shrimps, of course. And that means you can have as many shrimps as you want in different cooking styles. However, they also have declicious steak and Alaskan king crab legs. Their drinks menu is very interesting too. I love the cocktails there. They are either very tropical style or just refreshing which would go well with the seafood.

CrabSteak

This is seriously yummy. The crab legs are very tender, fresh and juicy. I guess they just steam it which would keep the best flavour of Alaskan crabs. The steak is high quality as well and for that price it is great in Hong Kong.

Cheung Chau

I like Hong Kong. But frankly, there are many places, such as TST and Mong Kok, I seriously hate a lot. However, I am always into those small islands and Cheung Chau is probably my favourite.

This small island is 10km southwest of Hong Kong Island and there is ferries service between Central pier and Cheung Chau. It takes 55 minutes for ordinary ferries and 35 minutes for high speed ferries. For further details, check out the First Ferry website: http://www.nwff.com.hk/

Usually you can see beautiful views of Hong Kong on the ferry. It is really stunning! They have outdoor seats and you can get snacks and drinks on the ferry as well.

Phuket trip guide

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

Phuket is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Thailand, and even in Asia. It is Thailand’s largest island, about the size of Singapore. This place is not something like a tourists’ new love. However, it still is quite a good place for most things you want during a vacation. I would not mind going there again in the future.

We went there last year in late June to early July. Usually it is low season around that time. The hotels were a lot cheaper and had great deals which meant that you would have more choices for a nice hotel. And it was quite less crowded so you would not feel that it is too annoying to walk around.

So what is actually that good about Phuket? I am going to show you some amazing parts and also some guidance/tips for a trip to that fantastic island.

First, alcohols. Well, alcoholic drinks are good and are a must when on vacation. In Phuket, you can find cocktails/beer/strong spirits for very cheap. Usually a cocktail would only cost $30-60 HKD. They are probably not that strong but they are absolutely tasty. And for that price, it is good enough already. Usually you can get cocktails in most restaurants and pubs/bars. But the main Phuket night life area is Patong. There are heaps of bars, restaurants and shops.
