My new tattoo

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

So finally I’ve got my second tattoo. It is on my right back/shoulder. A simple graphics with panda footprint and “mo” (that’s my old nickname).

Very satisfied with my tattoo artist from Wild At Heart Tattoo in Brisbane city. I was originally gonna get two tattoos done at the same time. One is an “evil panda” on the left belly and the other one is the simple graphics on the back/shoulder. However, after reviewing the design my tattoo artist suggested to combine both design into one as the panda one has too many small details which may get blurry later especially on belly. So he kinda combined both tattoos into one and it turned out well and unique.

The whole tattoo procedure went quite smoothly and easy. Around 30 mins. Not really painful especially comparing to my ankle one. And it has been pretty much all healed already.

I can’t say I like tattoos because I like pain. And it definitely has nothing to do with being cool or special. Frankly I just like it as I like simple but unique design. Getting a tattoo is a big deal but at the same time it is nothing big either. If you have a wrong attitude and do not really know what you want, then it is very much a mistake that you are gonna regret later. The thing is, be aware of what you actually want before you even try to do it.

Anyway, looking forward to my third tattoo already!

So here we go

iPad is out. After such a long time of waiting.

I can’t say that it is just exactly what I wanted. And yes the name is ridiculous. But, people, get over it. It can’t be changed any more.

Also I’ve read a lot of comments saying that it is useless and stupid or that how anyone would want to buy it. Well, some people just seriously need to stop their arrogance.

I will buy it. Why?

OK, here is the thing. You need to be aware of what you want to do with it. Basically I just want something light and fast to carry with in my bag and when I’m bored I can read novels/newspapers, browse web and watch TV shows on it. If you want to work on an Tablet, well, it is not that realistic. Tablet is meant just for fun.

I guess guys don’t find MacBook or MacBook Pro heavy. But girls do. I used to carry my little white (white MacBook) every day to uni and it was seriously not very nice experience. And I hardly needed a laptop in uni. What I did was usually just emails, note taking, web browsing and reading. See? iPad can do all those things and it is so freaking light. What’s more, there is iWork in iPad if needed.

You may think: iPhone/iPod Touch can do that too. Yes, they can except they don’t have iWork. However, the screen is too small. I don’t like small screens. I am not really a fan of watching any videos on an iPhone. I don’t even like reading novels on an iPhone. So the size of iPad screen satisfies me. It is not too small that’d make me have no willing to read anything yet it is small enough to put it in my bag.

You may also think about a netbook. Oh, well, yeah I was looking for one. I wanted to find one that I can install Mac OS onto (it is actually really do-able and if you doubt just google it). I want Mac and I want something small. Before iPad came out, a netbook that can run Mac OS was the only way to solve the problem. And iPad solved the problem for me easily. Maybe you’d say that a netbook would do more, but the thing is iPad actually does do something a netbook can’t do, for example, iBooks. And also, if I really wanna do some work, I would not work on a netbook anyway.

So is it that useless or stupid after all? If someone can find it useful for themselves, then it is great enough.

By the way, Apple haters, hating Apple does not make you cool at all. It actually makes you look so stupid and arrogant. Just like the most ridiculous reason I have ever heard about why refusing an iPhone: “It is too popular!” Well, you know what? Refusing or hating a GOOD product/brand just because it is popular? What? Are you 12? Grow up!

There is a thing I really would be disappointed about iPad though. It is that there is no USB or webcam/camera. >< As someone else said: “It is 2010. I think you guys FORGOT something!” Oh, and also multitasking. What are they thinking? = =

Apple China Support is useless

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Lewi bought this MacBook (silver & black, 13-inch) in the end of October 2008 in Hong Kong for more than $11k HKD with Apple Care (2 years extra warranty) as well. Later Apple upgraded this one into MacBook Pro and kept “little white” (white MacBook) as the only MacBook.

Anyway, it was all working well and never gave us any problems until this year November 30th.

On November 30th 2009 I went to Guangzhou (the capital of Guangdong Province in China). After I arrived the hotel, I turned on the laptop, checked my Gmail, Facebook and got on iChat. Then I decided to go and have some food at the restaurant in the hotel. So I put the MacBook to sleep then put it in my bag to take it with me as they had Wi-Fi in the restaurant.

So here is the beginning of this drama.

After I ordered some food I took out the MacBook and tried to wake it up from sleep.

NO RESPONSE AT ALL.

Then I noticed that the white light was not flashing.

For a second I thought the battery was flat but right away I realised that it was impossible. I do not use battery much and I always make sure it gets charged fully and in the right way. Before I left I checked and it was absolutely full.

I felt very weird as it was working all fine just 5 mins ago so I went back to my hotel room straight away. I plugged the power adapter and attached it to the MacBook.

The LED on the adapter connection did not really light up. Usually, it is bright green when battery is fully charged or bright orange when charging the battery. However, it was just dim green light.

As soon as I saw that I knew there was something very wrong. I tried to turn on the laptop but no response at all. I pressed the button on the left side to check how much power left in the battery. Still no light. Not even a single light was on. Normally when the battery is flat and when you press the button to check there would be one green light flashing.

Just 5 mins, the MacBook completely stopped working. I have a lot of important documents in it and I had to prepare quite many documents all over again in a hurry just because of this.

And, of course, Lewi and I took this MacBook and the original receipt to an Apple Authorized Service Provider. The person who was handling (more…)

A new begining

Well, so I decided to use WordPress as it could be accessed in China (blame the super annoying GFW!)

And here we go. =)
