My new tattoo

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

So finally I’ve got my second tattoo. It is on my right back/shoulder. A simple graphics with panda footprint and “mo” (that’s my old nickname).

Very satisfied with my tattoo artist from Wild At Heart Tattoo in Brisbane city. I was originally gonna get two tattoos done at the same time. One is an “evil panda” on the left belly and the other one is the simple graphics on the back/shoulder. However, after reviewing the design my tattoo artist suggested to combine both design into one as the panda one has too many small details which may get blurry later especially on belly. So he kinda combined both tattoos into one and it turned out well and unique.

The whole tattoo procedure went quite smoothly and easy. Around 30 mins. Not really painful especially comparing to my ankle one. And it has been pretty much all healed already.

I can’t say I like tattoos because I like pain. And it definitely has nothing to do with being cool or special. Frankly I just like it as I like simple but unique design. Getting a tattoo is a big deal but at the same time it is nothing big either. If you have a wrong attitude and do not really know what you want, then it is very much a mistake that you are gonna regret later. The thing is, be aware of what you actually want before you even try to do it.

Anyway, looking forward to my third tattoo already!

Goodbye, grandma

Monday, April 26th, 2010

My grandma (my mother’s mum) passed away this month, April 16th. Aged 80. Heart fail and lung cancer.

It is very difficult to describe how I feel. I never thought that it’d happen so quickly.

She always said that she was fine and refused to go to the hospital so none of us ever knew that she was sick. Until we could easily tell something was wrong, she finally admitted that she was sick but still refusing to go to the hospital until it was way too late. She was in the hospital for only 20 days before she was gone. I still remember the night when she finally agreed to go, the doctor said that she was quite in danger straight away.

Some part of my heart still could not accept the fact that she has already gone. She did not even leave a word to us. She just left like that. When I was holding her ashes on the way to the grave, I just could not stop thinking about this. She has been all gone. The grandma who used to take care of me when I was a little kid, taught me drawing, read Gorky to me, took me to the playgrounds and bought me snacks secretly, has been all gone.

And I do not know when I am able to accept this fact completely. I know everyone dies eventually but it is just never easy to say goodbye to someone so important in your life. When death takes away a beloved grandparent, it also takes away those warm childhood memories, those things and feelings that we will not have again in our life. It takes away something happy, something young in ourselves. And that something never really returns.

But in the end, no matter how hard it is, no matter how sad it is, we still have to say goodbye and let time heal the pain.

Goodbye, grandma. I’ll be good and happy as you always wished. Thank you. I love you.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

OK it is Valentine’s Day as well. But I am actually not a big fan of this day though I sometimes did keep some tradition.

Anyway, Xin Nian Kuai Le everybody! =)

It is always difficult to refuse Chinese New Year because kids can get a lot of red pockets from adults. Well, fine, I am not a kid any more but in tradition, the elders should give young red pockets. I guess it only stops when the young has a baby.

It was a great night last night. Soooooo much food. Lobster, crabs, prawns, shells, pork, beef, oysters, vegetables, fish etc. :D Also we had a lot of cognac and red wine. Love it! =) Lewi and I watched HIMYM and had some great laugh. That was so much better than watching some useless bullshit Spring Festival Ceremony from CCTV.

Now it is the year of tiger. Hope you all have a fantastic year. :)

LaLa

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

This is the other dog of mine at my parents place. We call her LaLa or Jumping (her funny English name). She’s a mix, will be 5 years old on March 8th this year.

I got her from a close friend’s grandma. It was May 20th 2005. She was even more tiny at that time.

LaLa is not very friendly to strangers but she’s really a sweetie to me. She follows me everywhere and she only listens to me. Every morning before I got up I’d play with her in bed and she would be so soft and cute. Mum always says that LaLa thinks I’m her only master no matter how others spoil her. I guess that’s some kind of dog’s loyalty.

Seriously I wish I could take her to Australia. =( It is pretty much impossible. She does not eat any dog food, nor dry food or can meat. If taking her to Australia from China, she will have to stay in Hong Kong for 6 months at the minimum first, have 4 blood tests and then in quarantine in AUS for another one month at least. LaLa will not be able to get through that. She is very stubborn and she eats my mum’s special cooked-food only.

Well, luckily, my parents and my grandpa all love her a lot. They actually spoil her. She will be having a very good life with them. I just cannot imagine what if she thinks I do not want her any more. I am a dog person and I always have this kind of special connection with her. She has been with me the whole time while I have been through a lot of stuff.

Right now she’s sleeping deeply and snoring a lot. Hehe usually I sleep on the left side of the bed and she sleeps right next to my pillow. When I was in Singapore, sometimes I woke up at midnight and found that she was not near my pillow and I got really really sad. I just hope she will live happily and be very healthy.

She’s always the dog that’d lick my tears off, hug me and enjoy some Feist songs with me. No matter what happens, no matter how many dogs Lewi and I will have in the future, she always will have a place in my heart. Just like the day we met, it was sunny, she was tiny, standing next to my friend’s bike, looking at me shyly but happily as well.

Susi’s happy life in AUS

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Susi has been in Australia for almost 4 months (out of the Sydney quarantine station for more than 2 months). I think she is really in love with Australia. Yummy bones and beef, grasslands, fresh air, clear sky, beautiful blue sea and a whole yard for her to play! I really can’t imagine if we actually left her in Hong Kong. I would have been totally heartbroken now and she would have been as well. She is just such a cutie and a sweetie.
