Chengdu

I love spicy food. That is a well-known fact. Since I was a kid I’ve been addicted to spicy food like crazy. Life without it? Nightmare!

Lewi loves spicy food. That is a well-known fact as well. And you cannot imagine how happy I was to find out that.

So basically we two are spicy food addicts. Call that a great couple!

Before Lewi met me, he had no idea about Sichuan food. I’m so sad for him. Haha. :P Anyway, as soon as he tried Sichuan food, he fell in love with it.

So what’s a dream place for us to eat? Without any doubt – Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province.

When Lewi was in China in December last year, we went to Chengdu. :D

The first night, we went to Yu Lin Road for Lao Ma Tou Hot Pot. It was soooooo spicy and yummy. It was so freaking cold in Chengdu at night but the hot pot definitely took the coldness away. The best hot pot and also the most spicy hot pot I’ve ever had.

This is Jing Li. It is a Chinese-style and cultural place full of shops, cafes and restaurants. I can’t say that I’m very impressed but it was nice to walk around on a (more…)

So here we go

iPad is out. After such a long time of waiting.

I can’t say that it is just exactly what I wanted. And yes the name is ridiculous. But, people, get over it. It can’t be changed any more.

Also I’ve read a lot of comments saying that it is useless and stupid or that how anyone would want to buy it. Well, some people just seriously need to stop their arrogance.

I will buy it. Why?

OK, here is the thing. You need to be aware of what you want to do with it. Basically I just want something light and fast to carry with in my bag and when I’m bored I can read novels/newspapers, browse web and watch TV shows on it. If you want to work on an Tablet, well, it is not that realistic. Tablet is meant just for fun.

I guess guys don’t find MacBook or MacBook Pro heavy. But girls do. I used to carry my little white (white MacBook) every day to uni and it was seriously not very nice experience. And I hardly needed a laptop in uni. What I did was usually just emails, note taking, web browsing and reading. See? iPad can do all those things and it is so freaking light. What’s more, there is iWork in iPad if needed.

You may think: iPhone/iPod Touch can do that too. Yes, they can except they don’t have iWork. However, the screen is too small. I don’t like small screens. I am not really a fan of watching any videos on an iPhone. I don’t even like reading novels on an iPhone. So the size of iPad screen satisfies me. It is not too small that’d make me have no willing to read anything yet it is small enough to put it in my bag.

You may also think about a netbook. Oh, well, yeah I was looking for one. I wanted to find one that I can install Mac OS onto (it is actually really do-able and if you doubt just google it). I want Mac and I want something small. Before iPad came out, a netbook that can run Mac OS was the only way to solve the problem. And iPad solved the problem for me easily. Maybe you’d say that a netbook would do more, but the thing is iPad actually does do something a netbook can’t do, for example, iBooks. And also, if I really wanna do some work, I would not work on a netbook anyway.

So is it that useless or stupid after all? If someone can find it useful for themselves, then it is great enough.

By the way, Apple haters, hating Apple does not make you cool at all. It actually makes you look so stupid and arrogant. Just like the most ridiculous reason I have ever heard about why refusing an iPhone: “It is too popular!” Well, you know what? Refusing or hating a GOOD product/brand just because it is popular? What? Are you 12? Grow up!

There is a thing I really would be disappointed about iPad though. It is that there is no USB or webcam/camera. >< As someone else said: “It is 2010. I think you guys FORGOT something!” Oh, and also multitasking. What are they thinking? = =

Facing The Sea, with Spring Blossoms

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

From tomorrow on, I will be a happy man;

Grooming, chopping, and traveling all over the world.

From tomorrow on, I will care foodstuff and vegetable,

Living in a house towards the sea, with spring blossoms.

From tomorrow on, write to each of my dear ones,

Telling them of my happiness,

What the lightening of happiness has told me,

I will spread it to each of them.

Give a warm name for every river and every mountain,

Strangers, I will also wish you happy.

May you have a brilliant future!

May you lovers eventually become spouse!

May you enjoy happiness in this earthly world!

I only wish to face the sea, with spring blossoms.

My favourite powder – Yalta’s Makeup Review (Part 3)

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

A good powder product is a must-have. It helps you set the foundation and concealer. When you are out and need to fix your makeup it is quite helpful as well.

I’m ridiculously strict about powder. Not many products can satisfy me at all. Lots of girls love Chanel and Dior ones, but they are very bad in my eyes. Chanel powder is in good quality but it hardly does anything. What’s more, for Asian girls, it can easily make your skin look dull after hours. What about Dior? Well, their powder products are not even in good quality to me. So Bobbie Brown? Oh, well, I hate it. I guess I sound very picky. Hehe. :P

Pressed powder would have higher coverage if compared to loose powder. It is also easier to carry with. Loose powder is great to use after foundation/concealer. Some pressed powder could be used dry or wet while loose powder usually is used dry.

Anyway, here are my favourites. Seriously, not many! I’m still trying to discover.

1. Giorgio Armani Silk Foundation Powder (N0 SPF)

As all of you can tell, I am a huge fan of this brand. I have most of their products and I always love to test out their new ones.

Anyway, this seems their most famous one. I guess there is another version of it with SPF in Asia.

Silk Foundation Powder could be used wet or dry. It has natural to full coverage. Usually if you use it as dry application, the coverage is less. I love it. It functions pretty much just like a loose powder when being used dry which gives you a natural look. Or, when not using foundation, I apply it after base/primer in either dry or wet application. Great in summer. Might be too dry for dry skin though.

2. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Powder (No SPF)
