Belly Delights in Hong Kong: Bubba Gump

The Peak is a hot tourist attraction in Hong Kong all the time. Everyone who visits Hong Kong, they would go there. The reason is simple: it has a stunning view over the Hong Kong skyline. This also makes it a great place to dine out.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is just located in the famous Peak Tower on The Peak. It’s at the top floor of the tower with amazing views. This restaurant is definitely one of my favourites in Hong Kong. It’s themed from the movie Forrest Gump and is now all over America and some other international locations such as Hong Kong, Osaka and Kuala Lumpur.

Their menu features shrimps, of course. And that means you can have as many shrimps as you want in different cooking styles. However, they also have declicious steak and Alaskan king crab legs. Their drinks menu is very interesting too. I love the cocktails there. They are either very tropical style or just refreshing which would go well with the seafood.

CrabSteak

This is seriously yummy. The crab legs are very tender, fresh and juicy. I guess they just steam it which would keep the best flavour of Alaskan crabs. The steak is high quality as well and for that price it is great in Hong Kong.

(Garlic Shrimps)

This is my all time favourite. We order this every single time we go. It is actually just steamed shrimps in garlic & beer. Simple but ridiculously good and addictive. I’ve always been wondering how they actually make it. Making a simple dish amazing and special is actually one of the most difficult things in cooking. As an appetizer the price may seem a bit too much but it is a large serving and really devine.

It is a huge glass isn’t it. At least compared to most other restaurants in Hong Kong. But it is still at the average price.

Photos of some other dishes here:

I’m sorry I can’t remember the name of this. It is rice and shrimps in some kind of Mexican sauce. I love it though! Especially when I do not feel like trying out new dishes, I would just order this to satisfy my stomach.

Lewi had their burger once. Seems good as well.

Fishermen’s Bucket. Shrimps, fish and calamari I guess. Just standard quality I reckon.

Sorry I can’t remember the name. Again. I’m getting old so please forgive me. :P Anyway, this one is shrimp in some kind of soup and comes with rice and bread. The soup is quite impressive. It is not creamy but you can actually taste the freshness of the shrimps. It warms your heart at the first spoon.

I would recommend everyone to visit this restaurant. It is not ridiculously pricy but not cheap for sure. You pay for what you get. Usually we would spend $500 HKD at least and up to about $800 HKD for two people. Booking would be needed if you want a great view especially on the weekends and public holidays.
